ANS.1__With its core art collection, The Garman Ryan Collection, childrens Discovery Gallery and world class exhibition spaces, the New Art Gallery shows works by world famous artsist like Van Gogh, Constable and Matisse as well as works in a range of different media by both established and emerging artists.

Q.4__HOW MUCH DID THE BUILDING COST? ANS.4__The building has cost 21 million pounds - 15.75 million from the Arts Lottery Fund, 4.5 million from the European Regional Development Fund and 0.3 million from Walsall City Challenge.
Q.5__WHO BUILT THE GALLERY? ANS.5__Following a two stage international architectural competition the London based anglo-canadian architects Caruso St John were appointed to the project in 1996. The contractors were Mc Alpine.

Q.7__WHAT HAS HAPPENED TO THE OLD BUILDING? ANS.7__The Museum and Art Gallery used to share a building in Lichfield Street with the Central Library. Once the Art Gallery is installed in its new home, the Museum will be integrated with the Library Service which will provide increased space for both services.
Q.8__HOW HAVE ARTISTS BEEN INVOLVED IN THE PROJECT? ANS.8__One of the aims of The New Art Gallery was to involve artists right from the beginning of the project. Some artists have been recording the building process and others have contributed to the design. Richard Wentworth has created a special work for the public space outside the gallery and Catherine Yass has produced a film which was shown in the window box - near the entrance of the Gallery.
