The Art Library at The New Art Gallery Walsall houses a wide collection of general reference books on artists, with a specific focus on those in the Garman Ryan collection. There are also books on art education (including the Arthur Hughes collection), children's art and art history, theory and criticism.
We keep a record of exhibition catalogues and documents specific to the gallery, as well as a selection from other venues.
In addition we have a range of journals and magazines about contemporary art and museums, plus access to digital resources through the Internet and CD-ROM.
If you are researching particular artists that have work in the gallery's permanent collection, we can arrange for you to look through material kept in our archive. Please arrange this in advance by either calling or emailing us (details below), or come into the library and speak to a member of staff.
The library will open from Tuesday to Saturday, 10am-5pm, with a member of staff available to help with your enquiry.
